fyi, some comments from todays West Aust "The head of one of China's biggest steel producers has told Premier Colin Barnett he wants to build WA's first mill at the Oakajee industrial park outside Geraldton. Dr Zhang Xiao Gang, head of the giant Ansteel group, plans to use his company's joint venture with Midwest miner Gindalbie to feed an integrated iron and steel plant and rolling mill at the developing project. If the feasbility study was positive, he believed (Barnett) the company would want to produce steel at Oakajee within five years. One of WA's small gas fields could be suitable to supply Ansteel; Dr Zhang is impatient for Oakajee port to be finished. Ansteel is limited to 50,000 tonne ships out of Geraldton Port but wants to use 200,000 tonne Cape class carriers which the Yinkou port is designed to handle." Also from todays Guardian "A sign-off on high voltage power supplies for Geraldton could come as early as next week. It has the potential to restrict growth, we recognise that and it will be an outcome from the Cabinet when we meet here on August 3".
