Mrs May, who backed a vote to remain in the EU, is expected to announce her ministerial team shortly after taking charge.
She is expected to appoint a minister in charge of leading the Brexit negotiations, while Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has been tipped to take over as chancellor from George Osborne.
She is also expected to promote a number of women to senior positions.
