It is hardly a prediction to say there will be class wars and riots in the UK and, to a lesser extent, in the rest of Europe. It happened for all to see in 2011.
So far as the UK is concerned this was due to two interrelated factors. One is high and increasing unemployment. The other is overpopulation. The UK simply does not have the ability/resources to maintain 55 million people. ( To a large extent this overpopulation stems from Comonwealth citizens from places such as Pakistan,India and the West Indies, being allowed unfettered entry into the UK during the 1950s and 60s, the vast majority being unskilled and hence on unemployment benefits.)
More serious class warfare and rioting is inevitable in Europe as its financial crisis deepens.
Selfishly, the question is what will happen here in Australia? The answer is that we shall see nothing of the sort.
The reasons are really very simple. Firstly, our fortunes are more increasinly related to Asia, especially China and India than they are to Europe. In addition, we enjoy low unemployment, by and large good wages, a high standard of living and a well-regulated banking/financial system. We are a nation far more interested in followng football and cricket than demonstrating and rioting.
Ours sure is the lucky country.
Dislosure: I was born and raised in the UK until coming to Australia in the 1960s.
