geothermal isnt going anywhere until 2011 the earliest , solar and wind were around for years before they became serious investments. sedimentary geothermal companies will get noticed first and get more funding because it runs on lower drill depths and sedimentary water flow , and there are these type of geothermal plants currently all over the globe and have been running for years.
hot dry rock geothermal requires greater drill depths (more cost)and greater pressures (greater risk), also it isnt proven anywhere in the world and will be hard to fund until a demonstration plant has been running for at least several years.
