With regards to mine life, and defining how 'renewable' the technology is, there may be simple solutions and definitions. Exhausted mines could provide data on the spatial distribution of heat loss, and allow new wells to be drilled as close to the central station as economically feasable. These new wells would simply need to be connected to the existing infrastructure from the exhausted well, and would allow a station to continue to generate at full capacity whilst allowing depleted regions of heat to regenerate.
