Geraldton port upgrade

I'm joining dots here and think that the motivation for the upgrade must include the expectation of the VRX production. This also potentially removes a bottleneck on the project as the existing facilities were limited.

WA Ports minister Alannah MacTiernan said ..... would extend the design service life of the structure by another 25 years and will allow for the continuation and growth of mineral sands and concentrates shipping through Geraldton. "

“Wharf 4 is the primary export wharf for mineral sands, talc and concentrates from Geraldton Port, shipping 1.2 million tonnes of mineral sands and concentrates in 2018-19,” Ms MacTiernan said.

“Its implementation would support through-put of up to 50 million tonnes annually — up from 15.9 million tonnes in 2018-19 — and lead to a substantial boost to the Mid West economy and local jobs,” she said.
