Germaine may or may not have a point. But she should have brought it up when Steve Irwin was alive and at the top of his game. After all it is a very Australian past time to cut down tall poppies. However we love the underdog. It is very unaustralian to kick a man when he is down. He doesn't get much more down than when he is about to be buried by his wife and 2 small children.
