Yeah Germaine's comments re Irwin may have been a lapse in taste - death by misadventure is rarely funny.
But seriously, did Irwin ever prove anything to anyone who couldn't figure it out for themselves - if you annoy prehistoric animals sufficiently (a poke with a stick will do it) they will react aggresively and quickly in quite a photogenic way.

He captured the moment with a film crew which then captured (for a moment) the North American TV public.
Genius strategy!
And not a cringeworthy moment to be seen.
