"Alliander" makes electricity and heat from natural gas now
In April, the municipal industrial park in Heinsberg operators Alliander Oberbruch a new plant will be put into operation, which converts with the help of fuel cell technology natural gas into electricity and heat.

The "BlueGen" plant comes from the manufacturer "Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited (CFCL). The Australian-German company is a leader in the field of fuel cells and produces highly efficient systems for small and large buildings. Since last year, CFCL also operates a production plant for mass production of fuel cell stacks in the upper Brucher industrial park.

Alliander the new "BlueGen" plant will test the practicality and win in this way also important knowledge in dealing with the new technology. In addition, the pilot plant as a demonstration object for

Alliander sees the "BlueGen" Project as a part of the objective to creating a network of this modern technology in the region. Alliander supplies gas and electricity for about 2.9 million customers in the Netherlands and Germany.

The impact of new technology is impressive. Even a unit with the size of a dishwasher can generate with the "BlueGen" technique twice the electricity to supply an average home, and it is even more energy than to make this surplus to the network.
"BlueGen" can also produce heat to keep enough hot water for a house ready. Ceramic fuel cells have reached a performance that is significantly higher than any other technology in this rapidly growing market for small power and heat supply units (GM).
