I messaged a mate in Berlin about the media sanitising things & the Govt campaign to soften the German peoples response to Migrants. His answer was a mixture of " we are not a racist country" "our past still haunts us" & the resident population of Turkish Muslims who hate the newcomers is half the problem. The underlying thread in his reply showed a strong "cringe" behaviour . I think with that thread running deep in German mindset it will take affair bit more to break them out of their stupor.
