The latest... there are competing projects for the money it would be hard to look past Vulcans projects.in the middle infrastructure and auto industries that the politicians cannot ignore. Imagine all the people thrown out of work if the German car industry failed or had to accept Chinese cars...German know how and pride is at stake...You can be sure that the Germans believe that they can build better cars than the Chinese and Germans consumer are definitely biased and spoilt over many years of producing the best cars in the world ....do you think they are going to concede it to the Chinese...unthinkable!!

The Pfalz would become a wasteland not too dissimilar to Pirmasens a 100 km to the west where they had a huge shoe industry and the most millionaires in Germany. Then shoe industry migrated elsewhere and they lost their American bases and so it has become just another city .without the affluence of earlier times.but this would be on a scale unimaginable.

It is not the assembly lines that but all the surrounding industries feeding the assembly lines and that is a multiple factor.

The money for the Capex is a hump to get over and that is where the Government should step in as once it is established the opex will compete as it is in the lower quartile. Further they have 300 employees with knowledge...are they going to let them wither on the vine?...I would not think so!!.The greater prize of course is the construction of the full size plant and the increase in labour force and the spin off associated industries...huge and that is just feeding the plant... the auto industry with all their associated industries
