The Mayan calendar finishes in 2012. Could this be just the end of an era or before this asteroid?

Pretty egotistical of man to think that he is above mother nature and the universe, but then again the US has, according to SB200, ET's on their side.
What was submerged will be emerged and vice versa in time just like before. What about Atlantis. I've been to Turkey and Greece where you see the submerged lost cities. Fascinating!
And if we live on what is there for us? Do any of you remember the song In the Year 2525?
