Most private cars are stationary for 90% of their life

Ummm, ok, then what's the advantage of spending double the money to buy an electric car if it spends most of it's time parked and not spewing those nasty emissions?

It is obvious then that for the average family to buy one is a huge waste of time, money and resources. The nasty pollution that the Greenies bang on about day in and day out is ignored when it comes to manufacturing their precious solar panels, electric cars and windmills.

Solar panels and wind powered generators have to produce a large amount of non polluting electricity to buy back the extra pollution they attributed in their manufacture...coal fired power stations producing the electricity to smelter the metal and plastics, and that is outside of the costs and pollution produced in mining the ores and precious metals.

So in fact, the electric car that sits in a garage 90% of the time on a battery charger would produce far more relative pollution than the petrol / diesel car that sits idle 90% of the time...
