The Germans (and the Italians, also anti-nuclear) have been using excess capacity from the French for quite a few years now. Perhaps to ease their consciences they believe they only accept the non-nuclear generated power.
Which would you prefer, 20 tonnes (say a truckload) of highly radioactive waste per annum per power station, or 200,000 tonnes of solid waste (but also radioactive), and that is apart from the CO2? Please feel free to correct these figures if you believe they are wrong -- I am quoting from memory.
