My personal opinion is the term 'Renewable Energy' is simply used because it's more commonly understood than 'high-efficiency low-carbon energy'. As Brendan Dow mentioned at the Annual Shareholder meeting, Germany already has 17% of it's total electricity production from Renewable Energy and they are looking to 'smoothe out' the intermittent nature of Renewable Energy with Fuel Cells (which provides a constant Base-load capacity). Germany already has first hand experience of how intermittent Renewable Energy is. Fuel Cells and Decentralised Energy are the next step forward...
