As for what Australia exports, education is one the biggest industries. Because you cannot see it or pick it up doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. We have to build infrastructure for all these new industries which employ many Australians. Where do the mining companies get their diesel fitters from? In Perth we are building a big TAFE motor engineering facility and a large part of the students will from India. So the countries who import our minerals will have to pay more via tax via mining companies. The mining companies by using fly in/out avoid building towns now, but rely on them being built by government, plus schools, hospitals etc etc. When they built mining towns they were given cheaper taxation treatment but not now.
