I have a lot of sympathy for the sentiments you have expressed & remain undecided as to what to do with the second half of my CHN shares - my crystal ball is a bit cloudy atm.
That said Fat Prophets has just upgraded their report on CHN & is still recommending 'Buy' with prices at these levels. They seem comfortable with management's responses to the non-binding offer, thus far. They are also streadfast in their view that the tide has to turn eventually for resource stocks.
