1) in London, property affordability is actually in newspapers every day.
The affordability crisis is because like Australia, London has sold out to rich middle east and asians as it too seeks easy money.

2) in Australia, the notion that australians could afford a house in the most sparsely populated continent has always been held in great esteem.

Unlike Tokyo, New York Paris or London, Australia is by and large not controlled by a few wealthy elite that have owned property for many generations thus limiting the 'property industry' and hence driving the psyche of renting as normal.
