They are using the mid point trades to cap the SP and then hoping that some real sells at the next level up get swept along with those capping transactions. Don't forget they still have to be in the que to do any trades.
People do sell shares for various reasons. I had to sell some end of June for example to comply with my Super Fund yearly draw down (might I add to my utter annoyance). So that's just one example.
Thank goodness, our SAMO result is November.
