How about this for a devious plan...
Fund A has 1M shares which is available for lending.
Fund B borrows 1M shares from Fund A and sells on market.
Fund A buys 1M shares on market.
Fund A has now 2M shares (1M lent and 1M held)
Fund B has a liability of 1M shares to fund A.
Fund B decides to borrow another 1M shares from Fund A and sell them on market.
Fund A buys 1M shares on market.
Fund A has now 3M shares (2M lent and 1M held)
Fund B has a liability of 2M shares to fund A.
You can rinse and repeat the process as Fund A ad inifinitum, and collect lending fees on shares that actually don't exist.
How about this for a devious plan...Fund A has 1M shares which...
