"What caught our eye, however, is that Norris thought time was opportune to paint a bleak and tough operating environment for the banks, just as his peers are getting ready to publish their half yearly results (CommBank has a different fiscal year). According to the newspaper, Norris "believes the credit crisis could last another 18 months". Meanwhile, CBA's average cost of funding "gets more expensive every day".
