IMO many on these threads suffer from "the cult of the leader"

Over the past 12 years we have seen how fickle political leadership
can be in Aus

Our chief political weakness vis a vis the USA is that we only have
the elected members pool to draw our ministers from (and that
pool is shallow at times) while the US can pick the best brains in
the country as ministers (Cabinet Secretaries)

Some might argue that our (Pommy) system is more democratic than
that of the USA , but tell the Yanks that!

And some might ask, is the US ministerial system that different
to China's ministerial system?
