Get rid of tenancy blacklist databases which are a source of anxiety for renters and introduce a real estate agent/landlord blacklist instead which renters can review to deregister and/or unlicense real estate agents and landlords that abuse. There r a lot more renters than real estate agents/landlords. Stop the abuse.
Why does the Government's Dept of Housing condone and facilitate the existence of a national tenancy database when it is against the law (section 13 privacy act)?
Reform is needed to address the power imbalance between renter and lessor, to address the abuse of renters by lessors, to address the inadequacies of the rta to help tenants, to address the bias of QCAT adjudicators towards lessors when making judgements, to address the abolition of the tenancy blacklist databases, to address the ability of renters to report abusive lessors and the establishment of a lessor blacklist from which real estate agents can get deregistered/unlicensed.
