Yeh well thats probably the way we need to go as processors are at the point now where they draw too much power and run multiple cores to achieve higher performance. That point right there with the growth in computer power consumption and growth of pc's in more and more homes across the globe results in a huge energy consumption. If that power consumption could be minimised and still have the added bonus of faster and faster computing power with minimal power increase, that would have to be beneficial and a new line of super computers would be born.... $$$$$
Well even microsoft has tried to achieve this via a software operating system called vista, putting pc's across the globe into a deep sleep to minimise power consumption... Well it doesn't work well yet !! Most Vista users notice their pc's never wake up again... LOL
Starting at the machine level, making that use less power would increase the power savings even futher....
