    as you are already aware it is pointless exercising your abs if you aren't ripping the fat off. You cannot selectively reduce fat from certain areas of your body. It stores it where it wants to and for men that is often around the belly.
    So to get the 6 pack it is a combination of 3 things.

    1. Cardio AND weight resistence to burn the calories

    2. Ab work outs. Just doing the same sit up routine will not be effective. You body muscles have memory and they will cheat for you. There are literally dozens you can do without going to a gym Just google it and don't forget the obliques.

    3. You know this one don't you? It will be the one you are not doing a good job on currently. Your diet!
    Write down every thing you eat and the time you eat it in a diary for one week. Post it if you are game and I bet there is a fair chance that you are eating the wrong things at the wrong times. So many people eats lots of nuts,avacados,use copious amounst of olive oil and margerines believing they are 'good' fats. Good for your heart maybe but not good for your waist line. The other one is sugars and other complex carbs. Your liver must burn these first before it starts on fat burn. So supds,rice and breads are high in complex carbs. Soft drink and alcohol full of sugars.

    So work hard, get your six pack, then take a photo because you will have to work like crazy to maintain it once you get there unless you change your lifestyle for life :)
