Premier Barnett of WA has recently opened up the debate of getting water from water rich Ord river to parched Perth. He made the statement that the water can almost flow to Perth by gravity. This statement says a lot about his intelligence level. The average height above sea level of Lake Argyle is between 123 & 237 metres; the distance to Perth is about 1500 kilometres. So it is evident that the gradient is incredibly shallow, meaning a slow passage for the water to sea level in Perth. As water storage in Perth dams are well above sea level, Barnetts statement is astonishing.
