One in every three homes in Tony Abbott's electorate has been doorknocked in GetUp's battle to oust the former prime minister from parliament. The progressive lobby believes the Liberal veteran is set to lose his northern Sydney seat of Warringah with a poll suggesting he trails independent Zali Steggall 44-56 on a two-candidate preferred basis. The Lonergan poll commissioned by GetUp also suggested Mr Abbott's primary vote has dropped to 39 per cent - well below the 51.7 per cent he received at the 2016 election.
The poll has a margin of error of 3.4 per cent. With two weeks still remaining in the campaign, GetUp volunteers have already doorknocked a third of the 60,000 homes in the electorate and called 100,000 phones."People in Warringah are demanding action on climate change like never before," campaign director Miriam Lyons said in a statement on Sunday.
