Various threads have quoted GF's exploration target threshold of 5m oz deposits. A report from Diggers & Dealers indicates they have relaxed this threshold to 2m oz in South Africa and globally:
'On the exploration front, the calibre of resource discoveries over the past 10 years has forced Gold Fields to downgrade its previous “rule of five” principle, which saw the miner targeting resources of more than 5Moz.
Instead Gold Fields was now targeting discovery and development of 2Moz resources, a change Baldwin said was necessary to grow the company’s regional business.'
So Mt Carlton is a lay-down misere, since Silver Hill alone is already over the bar and GF has the right to buy half of it if they complete their 150k metres of drilling, never mind what they find in the geographically larger JV area!
