    Disagree Hanrahan. We had a lengthy and involving plebiscite in the months preceding where ALL interested parties had the opportunity to promote their visions for a republic.

    The model chosen by all these eminent persons was the model presented in the referendum, and it was anticipated that all involved would support and promote the model selected.

    Unfortunately, those that supported the "directly elected president" model chucked the sads when they didn’t get their way, and actively campaigned against the model presented. Probably the difference between the referendum getting up and failing..

    For the record, I voted yes .
