Most of the engineering work related to mining was done locally in Perth. And that is drying up.
And even if none of the LNG engineering work was done here, a large % of the workforce to construct those onshore facilities are FIFO from Perth. I wonder what they will do when the current under construction onshore facilities are completed? It is clear that no new large onshore facilities will be developed for quite a while given cost blowouts, cheaper gas options coming online from North America, and the offshore option that most gas companies prefer now it seems. Hence the construction would almost exclusively be conducted in some highly efficient shipyard in Korea, with little jobs produced here.
