There is a bigger chance of being killed by a car, than a shark...mbeard - the earth is your domain!!!!. Get rid of the car, and there will be a lot less deaths, and mutilated bodies.
We accept cars, and the deaths (and mutilated bodies) that go with it - for no other reason, that it is convenient - it is just a price that we pay.
Nobody needs to swim in the ocean - it is just a luxury, that a small percentage of society enjoy. A swim in the local swimming pool, is "shark free".
A person who swims a few hundred metres offshore, is asking for trouble.
I have been swimming at Cottesloe beach , hundreds of times, over the years - and have never ventured past the pylon, and the groyne - that would probably be nothing more, than about 50m offshore - and that is deep enough for a shark.
Before i go for a swim, i have had the benefit of modern communication - and i know that there are sharks, swimming around in the ocean. Sadly, sharks, do not seem to be aware, that people are invading their territory, and they simply see a "feed" - the way it has always been
