The highest elevation of Malta was under the Mediterranean, it's all coral, you cannot walk bare footed there, there is hardly any soil there never have been its just plain sandstone, what there is only came about from that time onwards.
No rivers or streams, have to dig wells for water down or sideways into cliffs
I know I visited a quarry well over 300 foot high off the shore line, I was pulling out sea shells and ancient shark teeth, same could be found in cliffs faces and caves
