The Rephaim were a tribe noted for their great stature. It doesn't surprise me that skeletons haven't been discovered. You would need ideal conditions for any such remains to be preserved for thousands of yrars. This is used as an excuse when remains of Biblical people and creatures are not found but not when species to support evolution are not found.
