Hi Lolie, That reminds me that years ago, late 60's, we had a mining claim at Macreas in Otago and I had a portable UV lamp (short and long wave lenghts) for detecting Scheelite. Being a member of the Dunedin mineral club at the time, I got dragged into displaying the UV effects on different things at Ladies groups while others displayed gem stone etc. One thing was to turn off the lights and get them to put their diamond rings under the lamp. Most of the time the diamond clusters would show a mixture of colours showing that all the chips were not from the same diamond or it didn't glow at all. Sometimes the old girls got upset & blamed their husband for giving them cheep rings. Had to explain to them the facts of life.
