The Australian Labour Party would appoint a 150 person Citizens? Assembly to examine the evidence on climate change, the case for action and a market based approach to reducing pollution.
The total cost of the proposal is $2.7 million over two years ($1.6 million in 2010-11 and $1.1 million in 2011-12). These funds are available and uncommitted. Parameters have been applied to forward year costs. 2010-11 costs assume that the first assembly will be convened late in 2010, with the first two assemblies held in the 2010-11 financial year, and the last assembly convened in the 2011-12 financial year
Another waste of money - which seems to have slipped under the radar
