just read on the net, that gillard has asked nova peris, to be a labor candidate, for the senate.... from the net, the following

"If elected, Ms Gillard says Nova Peris will be Labor's first Indigenous representative in the Federal Parliament."

the choice of peris, is probably pretty good - so no argument there. indeed, it would be a better option, than the normal union career pathway - but that is beside the point.

does anybody recall senator Neville bonner????.. funny - a quick look on the net, and to a abc link - where they give his background - they do not mention the politcal party that he represented

    http://www.abc.net.au/schoolstv/australians/bonner.htm

anyway, bonner was the first aboriginal (he even looked aboriginal) to be a member of the parliament - and that was 40 years ago. - and he was a member of the liberal party

it is obvious that the labor party has never had a aboriginal MP in federal parliament - but the Libs presently have a aboriginal MP, in the federal government - and maybe they have had others???.

supporting Peris, for a senate seat, is simply a way to appeal to the aboriginal vote - just like Labor, seem to use females - especially female leaders.

the real power behind the Labor Party, are probably white males - and everybody else, are just marionettes
