Notice what Abbott said:

The Opposition Leader said today he suspected the government had failed to support the troops by providing sound legal assistance

SOUND LEGAL ASSISTANCE , not do not try them in a court of law.
No big deal there at all .... except for the fact that Abbott has blundered again.
He has gone on air and said he SUSPECTED the govt failed to provide assistance.

Why doesn't he make the effort to get confirmation?
1. Because he doesnt really care.
2. Good political bastardry from him.
3.It's all a big game.

I dont really think the soldiers would want his abysmal support anyway.
