Thatcher did warn of climate change, which was what Gillard said.

China is replacing dirty coal plants with clean coal plants. It's also rapidly scaling up renewables. It's plan is for no or very little growth in emissions by 2020 with a 40-45% cut in emissions/GDP and a 50% rise in GDP = almost no rise in total emissions. (Nothing like Abbott's lie of 500% increase.)

Why would she debate Abbott? He doesn't know what he's doing or saying these days. Abbott's been invited to Q&A - I'm looking forward to that :D
