I've never regarded "Beyond Blue" highly, largely because they have seemed to me to encourage people to believe they are depressed and need treatment, when mostly they're just experiencing the normal emotional ups and downs of life.
It's not pathological to be sad, or disappointed, frustrated when life seems to let us down, yet this organisation, along with others, has been insistent that counselling and probably also medication is required whenever we are less than full of joy.
But an appointment of Julia Gillard is surely a new low for them. I cannot think of anyone less qualified to make decisions about how an organisation such as this should be conducted.
Pity: I quite liked Jeff Kennett up to this point.
