March 10, 2011,: Gillard gets standing ovation from Congress
Prime Minister Julia Gillard has been rated eight of 10 on a website set up to score American politicians and world leaders.
Ms Gillard on Wednesday morning (Washington time) delivered a speech to a joint meeting of the US Congress in Washington, during her first official visit as prime minister to the US capital.
Visitors to the website CongressRatings.com rated the Labor leader eight out of 10 - well ahead of US President Barack Obama whose rating was 3.2.
Website operator Marc Beharry told AAP that the figure was statistically significant.
"Prime Minister Gillard's job approval rating on CongressRatings.com is definitely high compared most other politicians we track," the New York based IT expert said.
"One definite factor is the small amount of votes we received for her so far, but even with that small sampling her numbers are way higher than the norm." He said Ms Gillard was a role model in the US.
"Prime Minister Gillard, being the first woman to hold that office, has made history and is now a role model for our daughters," Mr Beharry said.
"Many of us Americans celebrate her victory and what it means for women across the globe. We wish her success in her efforts and will be following her progress."
