Pell - Convicted by a jury of his peers, his conviction upheld by the court of appeals and afford due process above and beyond that afforded to any other case because of the sensitivity around his position.
Gillard - Cleared by a Royal Commission, smeared with vague accusations and conspiracy theories that don't hold up when investigated, has never been charged with anything, so has been afforded no due process in defend herself from claims that are so baseless that they cannot even be tested in court.
Also Pell sexually abused children. Even if you accept all the allegations against Gillard (and there is no evidence to basically any of it) she, on the worst allegation, established an association that may have been misused. Well you could pretty much lock up every solicitor in the country for that.
Pell is a convicted criminal. Gillard is a lawyer who did her job and has been defamed by political rivals, right wing media personalities and numpties on Internet forums.
