WE saw that most recently in Victoria, NSW and lately here in Qld. Newman is copping flak for doing precisely what he promised to do back in March - take an axe to wasteful spending, prune the public service and get Qld back to being a AAA rated economy.
The same fate awaits Abbott after the next election. The announcement today about DentiCare beggars belief. We have huge government debt, so any such plan must be funded by money borrowed abroad. The revelations of union money management in the HSU [Thomson] and AWU [Wilson and others] shows clearly why ex-union hacks should never, ever be allowed to hold the nation's credit card.
It is still astonishing how Labor is still polling around 30% federally - are these people uninterested in politics, on Mogadon or just plain dense?
