It's the primary vote that is being discussed. It was historically low for Labor, and yet those votes didn't go to the coalition.
That is, the coalition primary vote did not rise correspondingly. The votes went to the minor parties, and the new parties.
Interesting isn't it? Tony has to deal with a nightmare in the Senate now, and he'll have to appease PUP candidates. I'm reading up niw on the bad blood between the coalition in Qld and Clive Palmer. It's going to be fun!
