JULIA Gillard is no longer our Prime Minister but she is still spending Australian government money. Lots of it.
And Ms Gillard has the sort of big money to spend on education her successor Tony Abbott could only dream about. She revealed today it now amounts to close to $30 billion.
She is chair of the Global Partnership for Education which will spend that amount on educating children in around 60 countries, and tweeted today: “Delighted a record $28.5B has been raised for GPE.”
Australia will contribute, with Foreign Minister Julie Bishop today announcing a $140 million commitment she said would help as many as 22 million youngsters go to school.
