November 17, 2010 4:04PM PRIME Minister Julia Gillard says she shares the "uncomfortable feeling" Australians have about huge CEO salaries.

A new study shows the average CEO will this year take home $6.4 million in total remuneration.

The Australian Financial Review survey shows executive pay rose by an average of more than $940,000 or 17.2 per cent over the past year.

``We have acted on executive pay and I share the uncomfortable feeling many Australians have when they see these huge numbers,'' Ms Gillard told reporters in Canberra today.

``And the thing that used to drive people absolutely nuts was when they see a CEO walk away with huge truckloads of money following them as their exit package and as a government we acted on that.''

In November last year parliament approved an amendment to empower shareholders to reject excessive termination payments not in the interests of the company, shareholders or community.

Nice to see Julia is a bit uncomfortable,so are we all, with the way she is running this once great country of ours
