Well the GST hasn't been increased and wont be given the attitude of the states. Not to say it should never be discussed or taken to another election.
Increasing the petrol excise breaks Abbott's election commitment and is politically risky. The government is desperate for a budget win and to take any steps to reduce Labor's debt legacy. Labor has it's head in the sand and at some point people will wake up to the fact.
