does that constitute breaking an election promise of ...."no increases in tax"
can you tell me if talking about the GST is also breaking an election promise....."the GST will not change ....ever"
There might be a few knickers to unknot here. Neither measure is a done deal. Its certain the the GST won't be changed before the next election.
And the fuel tax has to be passed by parliament inside 12 months, or it has to be refunded.
So both taxes are not anywhere near certain, in fact most unlikely I would say.
