Truly competent female leaders don't have to blame gender. Thinks Thatcher, Merkel, even Julia Bishop closer to home. You don't hear them going on about their gender and blaming it for their failings, as they let their performance speak for them and are judged accordingly.
Gillard was simply incompetent and not up to the job but it's very hard to accept that of yourself so it's easier for her to blame gender.
I have no doubt next time Australia has a female PM and she is a competent person and leader there will be no need resort to this kind gender whinging and excuses.
