We know that after moving to 5 blades, P&G realised that there was not much more to be done on the blade front. The big development focus is now on the moisture strips. This has been building for a few years and will continue. This latest innovation is moisture strips before and after the blade. That is what they are going with for the Olympics. The NEXT innovation will be enhanced moisture strips courtesy of OBJ magnetic micro-arrays. Here is another P&G video that pokes fun at the blade arms race, and basically says the focus is all about the moisture strips now :
I personally think the end game for this moisture strip focus will be the elimination of the need for shaving cream in their highest end shavers. People will load up a new blade when the moisture strip runs out rather wait till the blade becomes dull.
