I like Hope's plan to trade gay marriage for scrapping the Green's idea for an extra ball-and-chain on top of the 10% already suggested by Kev\Arbib\Shorten\Julia or whoever. Not that hopeful, though.
Apart from that, isn't it true that the execs and accoutants of halfway savvy companies are just going to try to write the books and strategise so they fit under the $100m cap, even if they may suffer in the short-medium term as a result?
The gurus behind this mining tax are trying to create an artificial ceiling that no one dare to exceed, but on what basis?. eg. why not $200m, or $50m, or $1B?
Summary: This is the Labor and Green mantra to reward failure and mediocrity at it's most vile and with no apparent reason. Lenin tried this post 1917, and a few have tried this in thin interim, but I do not think history has ever recorded a win for this type of economic engineering.
